When sketching what we wanted Runlimited to look like and offer the London running scene, a key component was to connect communities. We often felt that the rich array of different clubs, crews and individuals just needed resources and space to grow and develop together.
At the most granular level, Runlimited has grown with a mission to provide valuable experiences for individual runners across the city. To some, this may be connecting them with a new running club, to others, they wanted to understand running on an educational level.
Even on the base levels of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, we’ve got you covered if you need a warm refuge pre-, mid-, or post-, run, along with a espresso machine for some sustenance should you so desire.
As Jonty puts it to visitors, The Shoe Room should feel - more or less - like a one-stop shop for your running.
By curating a collection of cutting-edge labels in the running space like Bandit, Soar and Circle alongside mainstays in the shoe game like New Balance, Saucony and Nike, we want to stock a range that we feel excited by. That way, we relay our excitement to you, but usually that’s not even necessary.
The focus on crafting an experience means we purpose-designed the space to guide you on a personalised journey to sourcing your next pair of trainers, race outfit or just to reload on socks. Our bespoke gait analysis forms an integral part of this experience. An appointment with a member of the Runlimited team will help you understand how you move and determine your best match for everyday training and race day.
Two high end Technogym Run treadmills sit within The Shoe Room’s dark wood panelling and warm lighting, providing a real-feel running surface thanks to the slatted belt drive. Utilising Arion technology, you’ll gain data-driven insights into your entire foot strike and movement patterns through the pressure sensors built into smart insoles that map out everything from cadence and stride length to balance and stability. From here, the smart system will compile data and, along with our experts’ knowledge, will help you hone in on the perfect pair of trainers.
But why use this process over a simple visual analysis via video? First, the Arion system allows us to watch and replay how you move to give a real-life overview of how your running gait looks and your general movement patterns before then zooming in on the individual nuances that can be missed without the data. This gives us a holistic picture for your running to really inform your shoe choice.
As runners ourselves (and self-professed shoe-geeks) an aim of ours was to try to provide a platform to share knowledge with one-another and give the community a chance to gain the opportunity to try a number of shoes and find your best fit. The running community, we believe, is best when shared.
