At home on the marathon course and over any ultra-distance, the tougher the better for Ants, attested by a PB at the notorious NYC marathon. He was employee numero uno at The Shoe Room, trusted pace leader and our go-to for when we need a scoop of stoic wisdom.

In a sentence, tell us about yourself

I try to do things I don’t think I can do.

What gets you up in the morning? What’s the first thing you do?

My kids. They ask me “Are you going running today?”, I say, “Yes”.

What gets you out the door to run?

It’s the only real quiet time I get during the day. It’s like a prayer or some kind of moving meditation.

What excites you about the running community in London?

There’s a run club for every day of the week. You can fit in at one and stand out in another. It’s so good.

Favourite shoe of all time?

Hoka Clifton 8. The first running shoe I ever bought.

Give us some London recs, what should we be checking out?

Community Sauna Baths in Hackney Wick

Midnight Runners on Tuesday for bootcamp

Tracksmith on a Sunday for church of the long run (Editors note - or you know, our weekly Sunday long run)
