5 RINGS RELAY
10 teams of 5 runners joined us on Saturday for the Runlimited x Nike 5 Rings Relay. Clubs and crews from across London raced it out to claim the win, and some top prizes from Nike.
We set up our base at the Lucky Saint pub, just a stone's throw from the start line. Meeting at 4pm, everyone had the opportunity to switch out their trainers and test out the latest Nike Pegasus and Alphafly to get that extra bounce.
Race ready, we headed over the to the start line, a 1km jog to warm up, practice their baton handovers and a chance to check out the opposition. The rules were clear; 50 runners each taking a 1km lap of the park – passing the baton as they run together for the team race. The energy was electric, with teams and spectators cheering on their runners, pushing them to new pbs. Not being a distance that is often raced, it was incredible to see how people performed when they pushed themselves to the max over the 1km distance.
Well done to the Puresport team who took 1st place with an impressive time of 15.16. The all female crew podium was strong, with HOT BOYS taking the win, shortly followed by The Say Yes Club and CLUB99.
Special mention to our Unaffiliated Team, a group for 5 runners from different backgrounds - Chessy Ten, Damian Mitchell, David Searle, Jade Dos Santos and Ryan Willmott. Having met just an hour before the race, their teamwork was commendable as they covered the 5km distance collectively in 16:11, finishing in 3rd place!
